Cranston, RI — Taco is proud to announce the donation of equipment to Shawsheen Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School’s HVAC/R program, demonstrating its continued commitment to technical education and investment in the future of the HVAC industry.

Included in the contribution were several 00-Series heating circulators, Switching Relays, and a Taco Genie system, providing students with access to industry-relevant technology used in residential hydronic applications. These products will play a critical role in expanding the school’s field training environment, enhancing the hands-on learning experience.

“The donations help upgrade our shop to industry standards and build projects for the students, helping provide them with a better understanding of basic hydronic systems,” said Joseph Savino, HVAC/R Instructor at Shawsheen Valley Tech. “It gives our class a great opportunity to work with equipment they’ll encounter in the field.”

With the addition of this equipment, students will be able to strengthen essential technical skills such as installing and replacing circulators, zone valves, and other near-boiler piping components vital to servicing customers with hydronic heating. The upgraded hands-on learning lab also creates an opportunity for students to learn more about schematics, low-voltage wiring, and climate control in a safe, controlled setting.

Savino emphasized that the impact goes beyond technical ability. “Students become more confident not only in understanding these systems, but they will also develop the soft skills needed to explain the products and systems to customers. That confidence is critical to building strong professional skill sets.”

Industry partnerships like this play a crucial role in preparing the next generation of skilled trades professionals. By investing in education and providing access to equipment, Taco helps ensure students graduate with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to succeed in the HVAC/R field.

“At Taco, we believe supporting technical education is essential to the future of the trades,” said Dave Holforf, Product and Application Instructor. “We’re proud to partner with tech schools like Shawsheen to help the next generation build the skills and confidence they need for successful careers.”
