New Sprint Center Sports And Entertainment Facility Opens In Kansas City

A new 18,000 seat sports and entertainment venue has opened in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The $276 million Sprint Center, named for the Missouri-based long distance telecommunications provider, represents a major capital improvement to an emerging revitalized downtown. Opened in October 2007, it replaces the city’s Kemper Arena as western Missouri’s premier location for concerts, sports and special events.

Taco equipment in the Sprint Center’s mechanical room is an integral part of a $22 million investment in HVAC, plumbing and control systems to heat, cool and provide domestic water for the new seven-story building, which was designed by a collaborative of local architects.
